Natural Places

Grand Canyon North Rim

The other Grand Canyon park has a lot to offer visitors throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Death Valley National Park

Life in Death Valley is plentiful and unique. Look for belly flowers and notable species of animals, including tiny fish.

Florida's Big Bend & Cedar Key

Along the west coast of Florida, a natural environment on the shore and islands.

Everglades National Park

The glades are the result of a remarkable set of natural circumstances. Without the central Florida dome, the chain of lakes, shallow Lake Okeechobee overflowing its low rim, and finally the long slippery slope to Florida Bay, southern Florida would be a different and very sandy landscape, and the world would have had to forgo the wonder of the Everglades.

Everglades National Park provides the visitor with a great look at this unique ecosystem, and offers prime vacation time, year-round.

Sanibel & Captiva Islands & Swamps

This is Wildlife Central on Florida's Gulf Coast. Sanibel and Captiva islands, near Fort Myers, offer resort living and prime shelling. But for us, the prime attractions are the Big Cypress Swamp and several other notable and quite murky wildlife preserves and reserves close to the islands in southwestern Florida.

New Mexico's Gila Wilderness

Located in the southwest part of the state, Gila National Forest and the Gila Wilderness offer history and recreation.

Birding in Southeastern Arizona

The southeast corner of Arizona offers more than the towns of Tombstone, Bisbee, and Wilcox. It's the hub of the western states bird-watching activity. With more different species than anywhere else west of the Mississippi (especially hummingbirds) it's a birder's paradise.

Canada's Pacific Rim National Park

On the wild west coast of Vancouver Island, This great park includes rain forest, prime beaches including the famous Long Beach, a bog, and hiking trails. The park's three parts include the Broken Group Islands and the renowned West Coast Trail.

Big Bend National Park (Texas)

Desert landscapes and a circular mountain range provide a special adventure along the Rio Grande.

The Texas Gulf Coast

Stretching from Galveston on the east to Port Arthur on the west.

It Hardly Rains in Texas (NOT!)

A rainy night in the Lost Pines of Bastrop after a memorable meal in Austin provides lessons on cuisine and camping behaviour.

Grover Hot Springs State Park

in California's High Sierra - a short getaway from Lake Tahoe

Lone Pine and the Owens Valley

A cowboy film festival and a lot of natural splendor in the rocky home of the early westerns, all sitting below Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain peak in the Lower 48 states.

Gila Wilderness (New Mexico)

The first national wilderness area to be established, this is a wonder of nature and a storehouse of history.

Wildlife Central on
Florida's Southeastern Coast

Explore natural places like Sanibel and Captiva Islands, and several notable wildlife preserves and refuges in a very scenic corner of Florida.

Hetch Hetchy Valley (California)

A pictiorial tour.
Yosemite's northern valley is a secret to most people who visit the very popular Yosemite Valley in California's famous national park. A lake and a huge dam are part of the park, but there's lotsa of natural environment too, with great hiking trails, wilderness camping, waterfalls, and scenic delights.
